In Cochin (Kerala) we decided with our friends Hervé & Corinne to go on a ride together. They hired an Enfield and we ofcourse took our own good old Bullet. In Cochin we’ve seen a Kathakali performance, an art from Kerala. In Allepey we did the boat trip on the backwaters and this time we did the return trip at sunset. From Allepey it was a nice ride to Tekkady. We’ve been there before, but it was the first time we’ve visited a spice garden. Interesting and nice. Jan and our friends did a jungle walk in the Periyar Park. The ride from Tekkady to Munnar was still as beautiful as 3 years ago. Beautiful? No, breathtaking. We were in Munnar a short time ago, but eating the chocolates there and another ride to Top Station was not a punishment. From Munnar to Valparai (Tamil Nadu). For us the first time as well and this ride, recommended by Dilip, is absolutely the number 1 off all our Indian rides with its 40 hairpin bends. Valparai is breathtaking, quiet and has friendly locals. In Misty Creek Home stay we had a nice room with one of the most awesome views ever. We only had 2 days here, so we definitely will come back. The ride from Valparai back to Cochin took us through the jungle and although some parts of the road were in a quiet bad condition, it was a great one. The last bit was busy, hot and exhausting, especially when you end up in Cochin’s traffic jams. “From one jungle into the other”.
We shared 2 lovely weeks.
