Kolkata is en blijft onze favoriete stad in India. Het is moeilijk uit te leggen, laten we het proberen. Stel een plek voor waar het grotestadsleven met al z’n drukte, verkeer en lawaai simpelweg ingeruild kan worden voor de rustige en vooral intense plattelands sfeer door eenvoudig links-of-rechts een klein straatje in te gaan. Een plaats waar iedereen z’n eigen ding doet zonder elkaar daarbij te storen, waar sommigen noodgedwongen op straat hun bad nemen, dezelfde straat waar anderen zich in keurig pak naar hun kantoor haasten. Een stad die om één uur in de middag simpelweg het eenrichtingsverkeer in zo’n beetje alle straten omdraait, schijnbaar zonder probleem. Een plek waar de met de hand getrokken rickshaws een reclame dragen voor een fitness-centrum, waar de luchtverontreiniging met 280mgr de norm van 50 ruim overschrijd, waar de enorme mensenmassa ondanks alles een leven probeert te leiden.
Een plek met een voelbare vibe……
Kolkata is en blijft onze favoriete stad in India. Het is moeilijk uit te leggen, misschien begrijpt alleen diegene het die er ooit geweest is, maar die heeft de uitleg dan ook niet nodig………Kolkata, oh Calcutta!
Kolkata reste notre ville préférée en Inde. C’est peut-être difficile a expliquer, essayons. Imaginez une grande ville avec son bruit, traffic, sa pollution, son chaos. Mais il suffit de prendre une petite rue à droite ou à gauche pour sentir un atmosphère plutôt rural et intense. Une ville où tout le monde vie sa vie sans déranger les autres, une ville où certains doivent prendre leur bain dans la rue, la même rue ou les cols blancs se dépêches au bureau. Une ville dans laquelle à 13h00 dans la plus part des rues le sens unique s’inverse tout simplement. Apparement sans aucun problème. Une ville où les rickshaws, tiré par les hommes, portent une publicité d’un centre de fitness, où la pollution dépasse le seuil de 50 avec 280mgr, où la dense population essaye de vivre. Et parfois survivre.
Une ville avec une vibration palpable.…
Kolkata reste notre ville préférée en Inde. C’est peut-être difficile a expliquer, probablement seule les gens qui y étaient nous comprennent, mais bon…….ils n’ont pas besoin de cet explication.………Kolkata, oh Calcutta!
Kolkata is and will stay our favourite Indian city. It’s perhaps hard to explain, let’s give it a try. Image a city with all its noise, dense traffic and pollution where you can experience the intense rural atmosphere simply bij turning into a small street. A place where everyone is living his own live without disturbing the other ones, where some need to take their bath in the street, the same street where the well suited white collars are rushing towards their offices. A city, where the one way traffic in most of the streets changes direction at 1pm. Apparently without the slightest problem. A place where the hand-pulled rickshaws are carrying a publicity for a gym, where the air pollution exceeds the norm of 50 by 230mgr, where the huge amount of habitants tries to live a live despite this all.
A place with an enormous vibe…..
Kolkata is and will stay our favourite Indian city. It’s perhaps hard to explain, probably the ones who know Calcutta will understand, but then again he doesn’t need our explanation.………Kolkata, oh Calcutta!
